Neurofeedback, also called neurotherapy, is a type of biofeedback that presents real time feedback from brain activity in order to reinforce healthy brain function through operant conditioning. Electrical activity from the brain is collected via sensors placed on the scalp using electroencephalography (EEG), with feedback presented using video displays or sound. There is now significant evidence supporting neurotherapy for the treatment of many mental disorders, such as ADD/ADHD, panic attacks, learning disorders, social disorders, concussion recovery, anxiety, depression, PTSD, migraines and insomnia, and it has been practiced for over five decades. NFB is non-invasive, does not involve drugs and is administered as a multi-session treatment option, typically taking a month or so to complete. Neurofeedback sees positive and lasting results approximately 80% of the time often remarkable results, and often where mainstream treatments have failed.
